Keep OUR Los Angeles School Police Department in LAUSD

Honorable President Vladovic and Members of the LAUSD School Board, As LAUSD parent, resident and/or employee, I am appalled with the tactics being used by the United Teachers of Los Angeles (UTLA) Board of Directors in an attempt to remove the Los Angeles School Police Department from the Los Angeles Unified School District. Sadly, the United Teachers of Los Angeles Board of Directors have taken the tragic and unnecessary death of George Floyd and attempted to use that as a political platform to remove the Los Angeles School Police Department from LAUSD, which would put OUR children at risk. Unfortunately, we all know that school violence has risen over the last several years, and I sleep well at night knowing we have the Los Angeles School Police Department in OUR schools. The Los Angeles School Police Department is the largest and one of the most well-respected school police departments in the nation. For years, the UTLA has tried to cut the Los Angeles School Police Department from LAUSD in hopes of reaping more money for themselves. UTLA continues to put the “drive for more money in their pockets” before the safety and security of OUR children. Bottom line: UTLA knowingly uses false and misleading numbers to further their self-serving money driven causes and they are willing to jeopardize the safety of OUR children and LAUSD staff to get them. School safety is a massive priority for my LAUSD family, and I know it is for you as well. Please do not pander to the political divisiveness of the United Teachers of Los Angeles Board of Directors and instead, send UTLA a strong message by retaining the Los Angeles School Police Department. Let us continue to “KEEP OUR LAUSD SAFE.” Respectfully,
